Welcome To Our Village

A very warm welcome to Meditation Village.

We are here to offer you the tools that will enhance your experience of life; to learn how to live conscious (as opposed to living through a haze or by habit), connected (we do so much better when we are a meaningful and contributing member of a group – our family, our friends, our community) and happy.

If we ask around, we would not find many (if any) that would not want to live this way. But how do we do it? How do we really do it?

The three keys are: knowledge, practice and wisdom.

Knowledge – we need to know how to nurture our positive aspects and reduce/eliminate our negative.

Practice – once we have an understanding of the tools we need to practice using them.

Wisdom – with the first two and our own critical minds, we can determine how this is beneficial and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us and how we can make the two interact in the most easeful way possible.

Mediation is the key that unlocks all of this.

Meditation Village is here to offer you three steps that will set you on a path, your journey toward your truth.  The one thing that we do not offer is a sales pitch on the benefits of meditation.  You have likely come to our site because you already know its proven benefits, that it has been  a venerated method of practice for thousands of years, that it is really one of the most genuine keys to happiness that so many agree upon.

The Dalai Lama is visiting Vancouver this week and I think it is a very auspicious week to launch our website.  The Dalai Lama is, for me, the perfect example of practice in action.  He walks the walk and works tirelessly for so many meaningful activities.

He wakes each morning at 4 am and meditates for 3 hours and then spends the rest of his day devoted to helping others.  His 73 year old heart is as fit as someone in their 30’s and he says it is because he does not hold onto anything. He experiences everything as it rises and then moves on with to the next moment.

As the leader of a country in turmoil he often meets with Tibetans that have endured unspeakable atrocities. He listens to their stories and cries with them and then he goes on. He is the spiritual and temporal leader of a country in exile, he is master of philosophy and extremely advanced meditation practices, he is a teacher and always a student, an author and a member of peace counsels and non-violence movements; he is in constant demand and has an unfathomable travel schedule.  He could be quite grumpy and tired, but he is not.  When we see him on the news or in person, he is a constant source of hope and happiness. His giggle alone is enough to prove his genuine inner well being.

His message is simple – the world needs to live in peace and the first step toward global peace is inner peace.

I can say for certain, that meditation has changed my life in profound and positive ways.  It took me years to settle into a daily practice, but once I did, my inner peace and happiness expanded beyond my wildest dreams. I wish for us all to have a taste of peace and freedom.
